This is just the huge play structure outside the museum. The inside was so awesome. I don't know who came up with this thing but I love them. So much. We climbed through a bunch of tree tunnels and walked through a giant white whale and crawled through those plastic tubes you see at McDonalds play places only they were so much cooler. There were also these metal rings that you could climb through like giant metal slinkys. At one point we were trying to crawl on this sort of metal fencing stuff and my belly button ring got caught, after which I was very careful to avoid army crawling anywhere. Then we started walking through some cave tunnels, and we went through a door and suddenly we were in this whole other universe of concrete tunnels and twisty metal cage tunnels and stairs. The tunnels were shaped like lizards and fish and huge toothed animals and we had to crawl through all of them. Our legs are so bruised and sore; we spent a lot of time lamenting at the fact that we were no longer 5 with more resilient knees. But it was a kickass experience and if you need a reason to go to St. Louis, screw the arch. The only reason we went to see it is because we were there anyway. City Museum is where it's at.We also stopped at Sonic on the way back, which was just as fantastic as the last time I went to a Sonic. Those onion rings...gwuahhhh...
So now we're sitting in the hotel room, sore all over, legs bruised to hell, feeling pretty accomplished. But after all those cornfields, it's not that hard to feel awesome about doing something. At least we're in a building that doesn't feel like someone dropped it out of the sky into a cornfield. Katie picked up a bunch of pamphlets from the hotel lobby advertising Mark Twain's boyhood home. Maybe we'll go there tomorrow if we can get out of bed.
